Oktoberfest

Guys get ready for a great event because Oktoberfest is on the way !!!! Oktoberfest is celebrated in Munich and Bavaria which starts at late September and ends in the first week for October(16-18 days).This event is popular for the world second largest tent . Last year 2010 was 200 th anniversary it was a 17 days festival ,6.4 million people took part last time .It started with the marriage Prince Ludwig of Bavaria with princess Therese of saxony,the king wanted his people to celebrate his marriage on Oct 12,1810 .The King organized a horse race and later it was followed by a party and that’s how it started .Big,medium and small tents are available with all sorts of food stuffs like Chicken,pork,fish,Oxen and beverages like beer,wine,sparkling wine ,coffee and tea,water and lemonade etc.This year 2011 it is held on Sep 17 – Oct 3 (17 days).Enjoy this fest with German Beer !!!

  3. We also have Oktoberfest in the Philippines! Yeah, a lot of bands are going to play and etc.
    I want to visit Munich and Bavaria to witness how Oktoberfest is being held there! =) Woah! Oh how I wish I could …

  4. We have a large German community in Argentina and they celebrate the Oktoberfest as well. They still speak German and the beer is to die for! I go there every year. I have also been to the Hofbrauhaus in Munich…it was an amazing experience!

  7. All I know about this festival which is also celebrated at Malaysia is – its all about drinking and getting drunk with beer.

  9. Been there way back in ’74.
    I can remember drinking 5 of those large steinies…but don’t recall much after that.

This is such a big festival and loads of people start planning their trip months in advance to make sure they get to experience everything there is to experience – even if they don’t remember half of it. Beer and crowds aren’t my favourite combination but I would still like to spend a day at this world famous festival.
